Purpose

This position executes installations and/or repairs to customer vehicles. Pre-delivery inspections, mechanical work, and accessory installations all fall under this classification.

Essential Duties

  • Install accessories on vehicles, including such items as undercoating, satellite radios, keyless entry, mud flaps, roof racks, etc.
  • Meet or exceed established production standards
  • Drive and park vehicles in designated working areas, may drive cars up car ramps for preparation of accessory placement or application of decals
  • Secure necessary parts from supervisor, Lead, or Parts Associate.
  • Lay out and assemble accessory parts
  • Remove wrap guard from vehicle exterior and/or remove plastic from interiors as directed
  • Check fluid levels, inspect vehicles for damage (interior & exterior)
  • Check vehicle components (lights, brakes, air conditioning, etc.) for proper operation.
  • Read accessory instructions to insure that all correct accessories are installed and working properly
  • Use hand and power tools to do mechanical repairs or installation
  • Select proper units to receive pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and check fluids, tire pressure, etc as part of PDI
  • May wash and detail vehicle according to manufacturer's specifications
  • Advise Accessory Lead and/or supervisor of defective parts or inefficient work processes
  • May install minor accessories such as booklets, labels, floor mats, etc
  • Log processed work into VIPS (computer program) as required
  • Train other associates and or temporary workers on installs and/or repairs
  • Follow all safety guidelines
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work with limited supervision
  • Read and understand VIN numbers, repair orders, purchase orders, purge sheets, and other documents to insure proper baying of the vehicles into load lines, after the accessory installation is complete.
  • Understand policies, including but not limited to company safety policies
  • Notify supervisor of any workplace hazards or unsafe conditions
  • Shag vehicles for the shop
  • Upkeep and maintenance of accessory area
  • Keep tools maintained and secure
  • Other duties as assigned

General Description

This position performs pre-delivery inspections and installs small and large parts to customer vehicles. Mechanical work, accessory installs, and chassis work fall under this classification. Quality control checks may be performed by this position.


Working Conditions

Work primarily performed inside; however, outside work may be performed

Associate must be able to work as part of a team and be able to train other associates as needed


Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months experience or vocation education in the auto industry
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Valid driver's license; good driving record
  • Follow directions, both written and verbal
  • Able to drive both standard and automatic automobiles
  • Ability to pass driver's safety test at 80% or better
  • Ability to adhere to strict quality standards without variance
  • Ability to interact with others effectively
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically
  • Good visual ability
