Overview
This position supervises and participates in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, acquisition and engineering of all Conference Center, Video Tele-Conference (VTC) and Audio Visual (A/V) systems. The incumbent manages Conference Center activities and develops, coordinates, and oversees all major architectures and systems requiring complex features and multilevel security requirements across multiple platforms and technologies. Serves as Manager, IT Service Desk in the manager’s absence.
Responsibilities
- Directs daily activities to ensure scheduling and work assignments are maintained, to include the coordination and prioritization of project initiatives and daily operational tasks. Provides responsive support, mentoring and guidance to subordinate staff. Coordinates, assigns and reviews the work of team members, estimates personnel needs and schedules, and reviews work progress.
- Supervises major design and implementation efforts for Conference Center and VTC systems at all classification levels. Ensures custom solutions are compatible with existing architectures, are well-documented and comply with complex security requirements, certifications and accreditation processes. Ensures all systems meet or exceed the business and security requirements in accordance with applicable IDA, DoD, NSA, DISA, DIA and DCSAS directives and guidelines.
- Engineers, implements and administers new systems or major enhancements to existing systems. Maintains and assesses the current viability and future sustainability considering system architectures and organizational objectives. Performs industry surveys and analyses as required to determine if a suitable commercial solution exists or a custom solution is necessary.
- Leads efforts to select, acquire, and implement both custom and commercial solutions/systems. Provides advanced subject matter expertise and guidance to ensure the appropriate security implementation, management controls, and connectivity with other IDA and non-IDA systems. Identifies operational concerns and recommends solutions to improve operations. Participates in Configuration Control Board reviews of change management items that affect IDA VTC and AV environments.
- Assists the IT Service Desk Manager in the administration of the Service Desk to include preparation of the annual operating budget.
- Maintains technical proficiency in new A/V and VTC technologies; keeps abreast of industry trends, and makes recommendations to improve or advance services and system performance.
- Responds to critical after hours support issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field coupled with eight years minimum experience in Audio Visual and Video Tele-Conference technologies, which includes at least six years of supervisory or project management experience and four years in a leadership capacity OR high school diploma with ten years minimum experience in Audio Visual and Video Tele-Conference technologies, which includes at least six years of supervisory or project management experience and four years in a leadership capacity.
- Possess advanced knowledge in designing, administering, and supporting A/V and VTC systems
- Experience with Cisco VTC Codes and Crestron control panels.
- Must be organized, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.
- Project management experience desired
- Must be willing to work hours outside of a regular schedule.
- US citizenship is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOD 8570 IAT II certification within 6 months of employment.
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
