Emma Kaufmann Camp is located along Cheat Lake in Morgantown WV. Owned and operated by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh, EKC is a co-ed residential camp with an emphasis on teambuilding, developing positive values, independence, premiere programming and activities. Qualifications:

1. Entering College Senior or older

2. Actively maintains and promotes EKC’s core values.

3. Creativity, energy and enthusiasm

4. Capacity to work with a broad range of people.

5. Team player, yet ability to work independently.

6. Ability to address problems as they arise.

7. Experience working with children ages 7-16 in a recreational sports setting.

8. Possess excellent communication skills

9. Ability to perform other related duties, as needed and/or required.

10. Experience significant for position, two or more years in a leadership/supervisory position preferred.

11. Strong programmatic, teaching, and coaching experience

General Responsibilities:

1. Complete your job as per the guidelines set forth in the Staff Manual and Camp Safety Plan

2. Act as role model and teacher and offer guidance and support to all campers and staff.

3. Alert your supervisor to any problems in your area and communicate with him/her daily.

4. Generates necessary reports and documentation as needed and/or required.

5. Follow and adhere to all procedures and guidelines in association with the American Camping Association.

6. Actively participate in staff training week.

7. Lead weekly meetings for staff in the Athletics specialty area.

8. Assist other administrative staff in work-related duties as needed and/or required.

Program Specific Responsibilities

1. Accountability for the health, safety and whereabouts of all campers participating in all sports activities.

2. Develop and deliver sports programs that are appropriate for the age and ability of campers ages 7-16.

3. To be responsible for managing equipment, activities, scheduling and safety concerns involved with all sports facilities.

4. Incorporate Jewish values into daily activities and programs in the Athletics area.

5. Direct supervision of all staff working in the Athletics specialty area, including at least one weekly meeting with each supervisee. Provide immediate direction & guidance when necessary.

6. Evaluate in writing, the program, staff, and procedures, making suggestions and recommendations for the future.

7. Responsible for guiding specialists to mentor and train Staff-in-Training (SITs) assigned to the Athletics area.

Physical Qualifications While performing duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk to hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to obtain ACT 33/34 and FBI clearances, and mandated reporter training.
