is looking for a Associate Surveyor I to join our Surveying and Mapping Team, located in Houston, TX.


You will have the ability to: perform land boundary surveys, delineating routes, areas, and sites for company purchases or studies. These surveys involve the analysis of record information and collected field data with the application of special knowledge of mathematics, mapping, abstracting and related elements of law.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Analyzes collected data and calculates property and easement information under the direction and supervision of a Registered Land Surveyor.
  • Supports the field activities of a survey field party with research, calculations and sketches to ensure safe and satisfactory job completion.
  • Determines the location and boundaries, property rights and the proper location of company facilities under the direction and supervision of a Registered Land Surveyor.
  • Provides support to Surveyors and Senior Surveyors on large projects and work orders.
  • Participates on teams to assess and improve business and technical processes.
  • Prepares final maps, sketches, documents and field notes.
  • Consults with service area manager, service consultants, developers, surveyors, engineers, attorneys and customers to resolve land and easement related issues.
  • Coordinates and communicates with survey & right-of-way team members to deliver and complete assigned work.
  • Reviews and checks field work of field crews and office work of survey and land technicians.
  • Interprets deeds, maps, field notes, easement documents and/or prepares working sketches needed to perform a boundary survey or construction layout.
  • Visits job sites to ensure that tasks are being performed according to plans, to resolve issues and to ensure consistency of work performed by employees and contractors.
  • Maintain and update in-house work order and time tracking system.
  • Researches property records, historical maps & documents, GIS databases and other sources of information to prepare background information for field work and work order execution.

Your background includes:

  • Associate’s degree with at least 32 semester hours of survey related course work to obtain a Surveying License in the state of Texas.
  • Surveyor-in-Training certificate and actively pursuing registration in the state of residence (within 4 years of hire in position).
  • Requires minimum of 1 year of educational or practical experience in the Geomatics/Surveying.

A bonus to have:

  • Possesses working knowledge of ArcGIS, Civil3D, & Trimble Business Center or equivalent software for processing and reducing field survey data and measurements.
  • Possesses working knowledge of field data collection equipment (GNSS, Total Stations, Level, Data Collectors, laser scanners, drones, etc.)
  • Possesses working knowledge of Microsoft Office Product Suite, specifically Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
