Position Reports To: Director of Custom Products, IDS North America
Position Summary:
The Associate Product Manager supports and executes comprehensive portfolio plans and integrated programs and develops and executes the strategic plan of a specific business and product portfolio. Works in close cooperation with Marketing, Sales, R&D, and Manufacturing teams to maximize sales & profitability under the supervision of the Director of Custom Products, North America.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development and implementation of a long-term product roadmap with a strong focus on Product Concepts and Portfolio Strategy that manages the long-term health of the portfolio. This includes full life cycle management of the portfolio
- Monitors industry trends and technological advancements in security labeling, authentication, and anti-counterfeiting to augment available technologies for potential product configurations.
- Gathers and analyzes customer insights via Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Market Research resulting in better meeting diverse customer needs and developing more accurate business cases.
- Fosters development of needed technologies to enable the Roadmap and to position the product line for market share gain.
- Understand and support management of product category Profit & Loss (P&L) maximizing gains in Revenue and Margin.
- Gather knowledge about the competitive environment that drives action to Sales, Marketing, and R&D.
- Initiation and Coordination of the marketing/PR and business activities in close cooperation with Marketing Communication and Sales
- Participate in developing product pricing and positioning strategies to maximize profit
- Success is measured by organic growth, increasing gross margins and IFO (Income From Operations), and a strong pipeline of new products and customers.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or other related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience working on product development projects
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to interact with both internal stakeholders and external customers
- Sufficient analytical abilities to quantify opportunities from both an external market and internal P&L viewpoint
- Up to 20% travel, domestic.
Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- In pursuit of an MBA or MS in Engineering
- Sufficient technical depth to fully understand product development trade-offs and next best alternatives
- Experience in creating and managing product roadmaps
- Experience working on multiple projects from concept through development and launch
- Experience in the development of Custom Products in a B2B environment, preferred
- Knowledge of dual authentication and identification validation algorithms, preferred
- Experience and knowledge of printing technologies, preferred
- Familiarity working with and researching emerging technologies
- Experience with requirements gathering and prioritization
