What You'll Do
The Accounting team is a part of the Business Strategy group in our General Affairs organization here at Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. Our team manages all expenses and assets within this division of Samsung.
Based in San Jose, CA, Associate Manager, Accounts Payable is a key member of the Accounting Department and will be responsible for handling daily operations of the Accounts Payable function, including processes/reviews of invoices, month-end closing, responses to vendor/invoice issues, etc. You must be able to work independently, as well as within a team environment in order to provide outstanding service to our internal and external business partners. As an ideal candidate you will have a track record of successfully operating in dynamic environments.
Location: This position is located in San Jose California and you will be expected to be onsite at our San Jose office/headquarters 5 days a week
Reports to: Sr. Director of Accounting
- Perform and monitor accounts payable activities, including processes and reviews of invoices to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and compliance to company policies.
- Analyze the data relating to accounts payable, summarize statistical information and prepare various accounting reports for management
- Establish and maintain processes ensuring that accounts payable transactions are properly authorized and recorded accurately in accordance with company guidelines
- Provide guidance and training to both vendors and internal business partners on requirements for invoice verification to improve invoice processing efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve variety of issues with invoices in response to vendors' and internal business partners' inquiries in a timely manner
- Collaborate with IT and PI teams to maintain and improve internal invoice verification system for efficiencies in the invoice processing
- Responsible for AP month-end closing, including flux analysis, AP related accruals and balance sheet reconciliations, expense allocations, etc.
- Assist in quarterly and annual auditors' reviews with regards to accounts payable to help facilitate an optimal audit process
- Support in implementing and documenting policies and procedures that will streamline and increase efficiencies across all aspects of Accounts Payable processes
- Participate in establishing and maintaining SOX controls regarding AP processes to achieve corporate objectives and ensure current processes are accurately documented
- Prepare and file annual 1099 forms to vendors and the IRS to ensure all deadlines are met
- Back-up as needed and perform other duties as requested
What You Bring
- Bachelors and 5 years of experience, or an MS/MBA and 3 years of experience preferred
- Extensive experience in Accounts Payable (Working in a large enterprise preferred)
- Lead or supervisory experiences in Accounts Payable with ability to train, manage and motivate staff in order to complete required projects and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional leadership skills with ability to influence others and earn respect of team and business partners.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and resolve conflicts with vendors and internal business partners
- Proven career progression in Accounts Payable and ability to develop excellent working relationships that establish trust, credibility, and confidence
- Self-motivated individual with demonstrated experience and continuous desire in improving and streamlining processes
- Must have large ERP AP systems experience (SAP a plus) and expert knowledge of AP processing
- Ability to effectively work across teams and levels, both within the accounting functions, and across functions
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, V-Lookup, etc.)
