Job Summary
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for the position of a Practical Nursing Associate Instructor to be located at the main campus in Knoxville. The typical work schedule will be 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. This is a grant funded position that can be renewed.
POSITION SUMMARY: To provide quality instruction for student learning and to maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom and laboratories.
PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM: The Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Graduates will obtain a diploma in Practical Nursing and may then be eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN) used to obtain nursing licensure in Tennessee. Practical Nursing is entry level nursing. Graduates are prepared with the background and skills to give knowledgeable, basic nursing care to patients with varying degrees of physical needs. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors. Positions are available in hospitals, long term care facilities, physician's offices, home health agencies, and various other health care settings.

Ability to develop accurate and objective standards to measure learning or administer testing or other evaluations to determine effectiveness and ensure a high level of comprehension has been achieved. - (Essential)
Ability to teach basic and advanced nursing courses to include fundamentals; basic IV; anatomy and physiology; pharmacology; medical and surgical nursing; pediatrics; obstetrics; and clinical practice. - (Essential)
Build and maintain relationships with area employers to facilitate the referral and employment of career and technical students. - (Essential)
Work in cooperation with other departments and the community to enhance employment opportunities for students. - (Essential)
Responsible for surveys, records and reports of program graduates. - (Essential)
Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, and the general public. - (Essential)
Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). - (Essential)
Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision. - (Essential)
Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to take action should a health or safety emergency occur. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
ASN and current licensure in good standing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee. Three (3) years of clinical practice as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years and experience in Pediatrics and Maternity nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
BSN; Prior post-secondary nursing curriculum teaching experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices; knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Title VII, Title IX, ADA and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education; ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines; excellent organizational, analytical and planning skills; ability to participate as a team member, ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations, and ability to adjust to change; ability to handle confidential material judiciously; understanding of education programs and tools related to community colleges.
LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to exchange ideas, facts, information, and opinions effectively and accurately with others; arrive at decisions, develop conclusions, or develop solutions; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce and student population; ability to prioritize and delegate projects; ability to meet timelines and follow-through; ability to present materials effectively to individual students or groups; ability to manage interpersonal conflict situations requiring tact, diplomacy and discretion; demonstrate ethical conduct and professionalism; establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, other departments, students, and the public; excellent customer service skills; comply with policies, procedures, and instructions.
EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE: Utilize current College and/or department information technology including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, Ellucian Banner, etc.; office machines such as telephones, fax machines, and copiers.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regent guidelines.
