POSITION TITLE: Associate Education Director
REPORTS TO: Education Director
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervise the work of contracted, per-diem trainers, and interns or volunteers as assigned.
LOCATION: San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara
Grade/Class: Grade E, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assist in overseeing all aspects of regional educational programs including , A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute, No Place for Hate®, and other related education initiatives. Coordinate, adapt and deliver training programs and to design educational anti-bias initiatives and programs tailored to regional communities. Implement and assist with education fundraising efforts. Staff and facilitate the regional Education Advisory Committee and/or lay leader engagement with educational programs.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
  • Implement a full range of ADL education programs and projects, tailoring them to fit the region’s educational needs within ADL’s pedagogical standards and frameworks. Develop training agendas and personally conduct some training sessions and workshops throughout Southern California.
  • Assist in developing strategic plan and annual and ongoing reports. Monitor and coordinate the evaluation of education programs and initiatives.
  • Market, coordinate and implement other related ADL education programs and projects, including program launches, campaigns, and conferences, tailoring them to fit regional educational needs.
  • Conduct meetings with and presentations to potential clients. Maintain client database.
  • Assist in overseeing the regional budget for education and education grants. Assist with generating fee-for-service revenue and institutional and donor support for regional programs and services.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate a cadre of per-diem trainers. Coordinate schedules and assignments and assist with their ongoing professional development.
  • Develop community relationships and network with educators to facilitate effective delivery of education programs across Southern California. Collaborate on programming with partner agencies.
  • Provide staff support to lay-led task forces and committees such as the Education Advisory Committee and ADL Regional and Associate Board meetings.
  • Represent the regional, divisional, and national organization at external conferences, seminars, and meetings.
Qualifications:
Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills and comfort with public speaking and recruiting new clients.
  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to differentiate between different education modalities.
  • Effective public speaking skills.
  • Experience with educational systems and practices.
  • Understanding of anti-bias and diversity issues.
  • Computer skills, including word processing, presentation software and database management.
  • Bilingual or multilingual language skills a plus.
Work Experience:
  • 2-3 years of progressively responsible community service experience including education program management experience.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education/Training or equivalent work experience.
Work Environment:
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary to represent ADL, conduct training sessions and attend community events. Some travel within the region is required.
  • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to public health guidance regarding COVID-19. ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.

Compensation:
  • This position has a salary range of $49,000 to $65,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in San Diego, CA. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
