Position Summary
The Associate Director plans, directs, and oversees the day-to-day administrative operations of SAS and assists with developing, implementing, and assessing the vision, purpose, and objectives for all programs and services. The Associate Director provides ongoing support and advocacy for students with disabilities, both within and outside of the classroom. The incumbent will serve a key role in providing required training of faculty, students, and staff on access issues and the process for students to request and receive accommodations. The Associate Director has a student caseload, serves as the Deputy Director, and supervises the Assistant Director.
This position works closely with other offices, including but not limited to, Residence Life, Academic Wellbeing, Care Support Services, Student Support Services, and Undergraduate Academic Affairs and serves as the formal liaison to the graduate schools.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in higher education, counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Familiarity with neuropsychological/psycho-social assessment instruments and interpretation of the results
  • Several years of professional experience in higher education (typically 3 or more year)
  • Several years of experience evaluating the needs of students with disabilities in higher education and providing reasonable accommodations (typically 2 or more years)
  • Knowledge of disability laws such as ADA and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience and understanding of student development
  • Experience in program development and implementation
  • Experience in managing professional staff, graduate students, or interns

Preferred Qualifications
  • Several years of experience evaluating the needs of students with disabilities in higher education and providing reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to interpret psycho-educational evaluations and other disability documentation and determine eligibility for disability services
  • Experience in supervising and managing full-time professional staff
  • Experience with assistive technology for persons with disabilities
  • Experience overseeing students with disabilities’ use of technologies such as electronic readers, screen readers, note taking software etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocating for college students, including diverse, underrepresented, and international student populations
