Want to shape the future of Avionics? This position is for an engineer in the Avionics Advanced Technology group. This group supports the Avionics Strategic Business Unit in creating, maturing, and transitioning technologies that enable advanced capabilities and operations in both commercial and military aviation. The team is cross-functional and composed of systems, software, hardware, human factors engineers with a variety of expertise. Areas of near-term focus include flight deck design with an emphasis on more autonomous to enhance safety and efficiency.

As a member of the team, you will be part of a highly motivated and extremely innovative team supporting the development of rapid prototypes and proof of concepts for internal and external demonstrations. This is a unique position where every day will be a little bit different with new challenges and problems to be solved allowing you to use your diverse set of skills and continue to learn new ones. This is a hybrid position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A comprehensive relocation package is available.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of the next generation flight deck
• Explore new technologies and their implications for new operational concepts
• Design and develop research prototypes to quickly demonstrate technology concepts

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience OR
• Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience OR
• In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required
• Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
• Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
• Previous experience developing new or novel ideas to solve problems
• Human factors and human systems design experience in the Automotive, Aviation, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pilot or Flight Operations Experience
• Avionics systems development or certification experience
• Autonomous systems experience
