The Associate Director, Animal Health Ventures (AHV) Livestock role actively engages with and supports our existing investments in livestock oriented start ups, as well as looking for new investments and partnerships that are of strategic interest to our company's Animal Health.

By investing and partnering with new businesses seeking to solve animal health and welfare problems in new and innovative ways, the associate director will be helping these start ups create new value for their customers and in so doing bring new value to our company.

This position is a part of the Animal Health Ventures team and works extremely closely with our company's Animal Health Intelligence commercial and Technology Labs teams, as well as many teams across the wider business such as business development, the global marketing teams, finance, and local commercial teams. Frequent interactions with our technology and marketing colleagues in Israel, Europe and the US as well as local commercial colleagues around the world requires flexibility in work hours.

The initial focus will be on ruminant investments, however the role will also include other AHV activities and investments in other species as needed.

Our Animal Health Marketing team takes a customer centric perspective using customer feedback and market intelligence data. Using this data, we design, develop and deploy products, platforms, brands and marketing initiatives that ensure we can improve the health and well-being of animals everywhere.

Main responsibilities

  • Understand, anticipate, and explore global trends impacting all elements of animal health and welfare, anticipating customers' unmet current and future needs.

  • Development of business cases to support new investments

  • Supporting the incubation of innovation that is in-house

  • Helping achieve alignment regarding emerging strategy across the business, including commercial and R and D in both the vaccine / pharma business and our company's Animal Health Intelligence businesses.

  • Key source of knowledge around the emerging and existing start up ecosystem.

  • Board observer responsibilities as appropriate.

Minimum education required

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in animal science, veterinary science or agricultural engineering

Required experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience, preferably some in animal health or similar

  • Demonstrable ability to work across countries, cultures and functions

  • Emerging capability in strategy development and strategic thinking

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Emerging commercial acumen

  • Critical thinker

Preferred experience

  • Exposure / experience in the use of technologies in animal production or similar industry is a plus

  • Background and expertise in ruminant or livestock health / production

Other

  • Travel: can be expected at ~25%

  • Location :Madison New Jersey is head office, location in Eastern USA or western Europe preferred
