Job description

We are looking for a hard-working, and experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to oversee the Inbound Operations (Unloading, Receiving, Putaway), Warehouse Operations (replenishment, full case and less than case picking), Outbound Operations (Loading), and Office Operations (Transportation Coordinators, order preparation, inventory, and location control). Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will directly coach and lead a team of 4 to 6 Exempt supervisors, and a total team of up to 90 associates. You will provide strategic and innovative leadership regarding employee engagement, process improvement and KPI tracking. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly.
Assistant Warehouse Manager must analyse trends, solve problems, and motivate and develop themselves and associates to maximize contribution to the DC success – manages through several Supervisors to achieve results from many hourly associates.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision
  • Oversee all warehouse operations including receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations
  • Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization
  • Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security
  • Manage stock control and reconcile with WMS and ERP system
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and transport companies
  • Plan work rotas, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
  • Recruit, select, orient, coach and motivate employees
  • Produce reports and statistics regularly for senior management
  • Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided

Required Skills

  • Proven work experience in warehouse management
  • Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage and motivate staff
  • Ability to motivate workers and discipline when necessary – leading by example
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • BS degree in logistics, supply chain management or business administration
  • Knowledge of Manhattan SCALE and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central / NAV
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working in fast moving consumer packaged goods
