  • In-office: : Work onsite in our offices up to 5 days a week in Rhode Island, Ohio and New Jersey.
  • Hybrid: : Work onsite in our (RI, OH, NJ) offices 2-4 days a week and work from home (WFH).
  • Remote: : AIPSO supports fully remote work (WFH) to applicants who reside in Alabama, California, Delaware, Illinois, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia (subject to approval).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examines documents such as application forms, inspection reports, and other related data reports as

applicant financial standing to determine eligibility.

  • Reviews daily system control reports to ensure low-cost voluntary automobile insurance meets state

requirements in CA, HI, and NJ.

  • Responds to complex telephone inquiries, correspondence and complaints from agents and/or insureds.
  • Interprets Plan rules to agents, insureds and governance committees.
  • Prepares output for mailings to agents and distributes other information as appropriate.
  • Verifies input on policy writing system and corrects errors where necessary.
  • Monitors Vehicle Inspection Program by updating policy data with complete inspection information.
  • Communicates with Plan and Insurance Department on special problems and follows through to resolution.
  • Specifies applicable endorsements, or applies rating to ensure safe and profitable distribution of risks.
  • Accurately records that income eligibility is verified and maintain financial responsibility filings history as

required.

Education:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. CPCU or other insurance designations or additional appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:
3 or more years of private passenger underwriting and/or rating experience and/or training required. Experience with personal automobile insurance plan rules and regulations preferred.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) to manage work.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry, particularly of the residual market personal automobile industry and

personal automobile insurance plan rules and regulations.

  • Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze complex issues, find the root cause of the

problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting.

  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present

information and respond to questions from groups or individuals.

  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by listening, interpreting and responding to customer needs.
