SERVICE: Childcare & Education Services, Here4Youth*
HOURS:* 10-20 hours per week. Hours are 7-9 am and/or 2-6 pm Monday through Friday, with additional hours available on a few weekends during the year and in the summer.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The assistant teacher is responsible for communicating with parents, assisting with, preparing for, and implementing daily activities with the students. As an assistant teacher at Here4Youth, you will have the unique opportunity to work for a childcare program unlike any other in South Dakota. You will have access to high quality training to serve special needs children and a front row seat to the varying needs in this community. If you’re looking for experience serving all ages in childcare, Here4Youth is the place for you! Assistant teachers at Here4Youth are self-starters who participate in games, read with students, and teach them simple, fun and enriching activities. We spend time meeting students to see where they are developmentally, emotionally and relationally. This position provides opportunities for nurturing children inside and outside, while gaining skills communicating effectively with students, their parents, and other staff. You will gain knowledge of how to provide personal care to students and light cleaning of areas to ensure sanitary conditions and to meet standards. This position has some responsibilities in maintaining daily paperwork such as attendance records. We would expect this individual to attend in-service training required by licensing and the program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Post high school education and experience with children preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age and have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop supportive relationships with young children with special needs. This position must successfully complete all agency background checks. The preferred candidate will have a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain approved driver status.
SALARY: Dependent on experience and qualifications.
