Qualifications:
- 3 -5 years classroom experience required
- Previous administration experience required
- Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership required
- Ability to develop creative, positive solutions to challenging situations
- Organized, energetic, innovative, and professional
- Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct informal teacher observations as well as observes new teachers within the first 45 days of school.
- Share with the administrative team the responsibility for protecting the health and welfare of students.
- Coordinate and supervise all details of Extended Day Program.
- Responsible for all curriculum and related issues and in developing teaching strategies to implement new curricula along with instructional coaches.
- Communicates with parents concerning curriculum and teacher concerns.
- Prepare curriculum report for principal to submit to School Advisory Board meeting.
- Provide feedback for practice exams for immediate dissemination of information to faculty.
- Assist principal in setting curriculum standards that drive performance.
- Works with committees and individuals on problems of content area.
- Informs staff of major trends and development affecting them.
- Promotes relevance and effectiveness in terms of established objectives.
- Orients new teachers to content area.
- Meets with department heads to ensure compliance with standards.
- Assists the principal on assessing textbook needs according to BEST Standards.
- Produce data from testing and classroom performance to assess student performance
- Assist teachers in creating PMP for students.
- Assist teachers in creating portfolios for documentation of student performance.
- Research faculty in-service opportunities to drive performance.
- Evaluate curriculum to insure the highest possible performance on state standards and assessments.
- Administers or supervises the administration of achievement tests.
- Prepares informative reports for mental health counselors, teachers and other professionals who use group tests results in performing their own duties.
- Oversees Department Chairs and holds monthly department chair meetings providing agendas and minutes to Principal in a timely manner.
- Mandatory attendance at all staff meetings, administrative meetings, and School Advisory Committee meetings.
- Monitor weekly tutorials in Math, Language Arts, Reading and Science.
- Attends District meetings specific to AP in charge of scheduling and provides appropriate staff members with updated information as needed.
- Works closely with principal on creating a master schedule.
- Attends formal and informal meetings with teachers as necessary.
- Works with department chairs and faculty in compiling annual budget requests.
- Acts as lead administrator in absence of principal.
- Provide communications from school to home with submissions for monthly newsletter.
- Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
- Works with Facilities Coordinator to ensure transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services are provided when needed.
- Maintains discipline and assists in enforcing compulsory attendance laws.
- Assists with the requisition of textbooks and other materials for assigned grade levels.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the School Principal may assign from time to time.
Additional Responsibilities:
Work independently and exercise sound judgment within established guidelines; collect, evaluate, and interpret varied data; use word processing, graphics, spreadsheet and database programs to develop reports, databases and communications materials; compose correspondence; coordinate multiple projects and meet critical deadlines; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Employees must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving of instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes and (b) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.
