Job Description

Since our humble beginnings of selling absurdly soft t-shirts from a VW bus, we've been pretty busy- building a great brand, opening 50 (and counting!) stores, and, most importantly, continuing to make awesome, super soft clothing. Turns out, all of this requires a good amount of work on the backend, and our HQ team is expanding to keep up… that’s where you come in.
We’re looking to add an Assistant Merchant + Sample Coordinator to the product team. As a member of the Merchandising team, your primary responsibility will be to create and drive seasonal and long term product strategies to best maximize the sales and profitability of our assortment. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting product teams with sample management since we are a product obsessed company.
This work will include providing detailed reporting and analysis to cross-functional teams, performing competitive analysis of market trends, maintaining an accurate picture of the seasonal line on a day-to-day basis, understanding profitability of the assortment, and managing product teams’ samples for various deliverables & milestone meetings.

Scope

This position will report to our Men’s Merchandising Manager. While you will predominantly focus on our Men’s assortment, you will support all product divisions for key tasks:
Assortment Planning
  • Perform pre-season competitive market analysis in the market to identify category trends and strategic opportunities
  • Work with design, development, production, and planning teams to create a profitable and brand-relevant assortment that syncs with merchandise and sales plans
  • Continuously maintain "Visual Line Plans" detailing deliveries and key product information, and provide up-to-date line sheets to cross-functional partners as needed
Reporting and Analysis
  • Provide in-season style + category selling analysis & takeaways in order to inform both short-term actions and future facing assortment and investment shifts
Sample Management
  • Merchandising: work with the design & tech design teams to pull and organize samples for quarterly milestone meetings
  • Ecommerce: pass off all samples needed for photoshoot deadlines and communicate with the photo & web team if samples are missing, late, or incorrect
  • Wholesale: partner with product teams to gather samples that are an accurate representation of the assortment to enable the wholesale team’s success in selling to external buyers
Other Key Focus Areas
  • Work with marketing and catalog teams to ensure accurate product assortment activation across all channels
  • Collaborate with visual & retail management team to clearly communicate product knowledge, arrivals, buying strategy, and visual merchandising requests

Qualifications

A Strong Team Player.
The successful candidate for this position brings a positive approach to new and challenging projects. You are organized, self-motivated and accountable with an enthusiasm for getting stuff done. You will also have to work very closely with most teams at ML! Communication skills are critical.
Customer Obsessed
We think our customers are great and we want them to feel like we’re their best friend on a shopping trip. Our Merchandising team represents our customer’s voice in building the assortment, how things fit, and how the product shows up in store and online.
Driven to Build Something Great.
Hmmm, how to say this politely, we ain’t Levis or the Gap. We’re on the precipice of something really special, but we’re not there yet. The road ahead is going to be challenging and we’re looking for someone who embraces that and is eager to play a key part in getting us to the next level.
An Authentic Brand Advocate.
