POSITION SUMMARY


The Assistant HR Manager performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, recruitment & employment, safety and workers compensation, benefits management, and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The Assistant HR Manager must be sensitive to employee goodwill and the business needs.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS


o Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

o 3-5 years Human Resources experience preferred

o PHR, SPHR certification preferred

o Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills

o Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Photo manipulation)

o Experience using HRIS software to maintain employee records, process payroll, and produce reports

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • In collaboration with Department Managers: recruits, interviews, tests and selects employees to fill vacant positions
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals
  • Assists with management training and interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, harassment and discrimination
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
  • Responds to inquires regarding policies, procedures and programs
  • Manages employee uniform program
  • Responsible for payroll processing and reporting
  • Assists with the administration of benefits programs such as life, health, and dental insurances, 401k plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Assists with safety programs, monthly safety meetings and employee injuries & accidents procedures
  • Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier
  • Assists with employee events, parties and recognition program
  • Assist with the final end of month procedure requires HR to produce and deliver an accrued payroll, 401K and GL summary distribution reports to accounting. This is also the time to discuss with accounting any irregularities that may have occurred during the month such as voided checks, duplicate payments, direct deposits that did not process, garnishment issues, 401K issues and other misc. discrepancies.
