Our legal team here at Sherman Associates is seeking a skilled Assistant General Counsel. The Assistant General Counsel provides legal representation and support for real estate development, acquisitions, refinancing, and a variety of corporate and operational matters throughout Sherman Associates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Works on all aspects of multifamily and commercial real estate development transactions, including negotiating and drafting acquisition and sales documents, leasing documents, construction and design documents, development agreements, and loan documents involving a variety of sources of financing.
- Negotiates and drafts a variety of commercial contracts; conducts title and survey review.
- Provides day?to?day advice to internal customers.
- Monitors laws, regulations and industry best practices affecting real estate developers and property managers to provide business-oriented advice to compliance and business partners responsible for the company’s operations
- Works with representatives from various corporate departments on operational and corporate matters.
- Participates in special projects and assume additional responsibilities for other aspects of the company’s business such as corporate governance, employment and litigation as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
J.D. degree required.- Must be licensed to practice law in applicable states/jurisdictions; Admission to the Colorado Bar is required or pending .
- 5+ years of real estate law experience ranging from general real estate legal matters such as conveyances, leasing, subdivision matters and lending work to experience with corporate contracts.
- Experience with affordable housing law strongly desired.
- A strong background in finance is preferred.

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
