Job description
Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary invites applications and nominations for a post-doctoral faculty position in practical theology who will serve as Assistant Director for the Sun-Walking Fellowship Grant (4-year contract – 2023-2027), a program that endeavors to strengthen congregational ministry with youth through communal art. The successful candidate should hold a PhD, or be ready to defend their dissertation in a field related to practical theology, with a focus in religious education or youth ministry highly desired. This colleague should be committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship and be interested in the constructive interpretation of Christian faith and life in conversation with other disciplines. The candidate will teach a series of required MDiv courses, with the opportunity of teaching another course in their area of interest.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As Assistant Director for the Sun-Walking Fellowship, this colleague with work with the Project Director, who is also the Director of Field Education, to plan, implement, and assess the Grant program, as well as the seminary’s Field Education program. Together, they will:
1. Plan and implement meetings, retreats, and yearly events for the congregations participating in the project;
2. Analyze and assess data about the effectiveness and impact of the project’s activities, and
3. Create resource materials for Fellowship cohort participants and for the wider public. The Assistant Director will also provide Field Education advising and placement guidance for MDiv students who matriculate during their service with the seminary. The Project Director will serve as the Assistant Director’s supervisor and faculty mentor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED QUALITIES:
A Ph.D. or Th.D. in practical theology, or readiness to complete a doctoral defense required, with religious education or youth ministry specialization highly desired.
