JOB LOCATION: YMCA-Glendale Sports - 4500 E. Kentucky Ave, Denver, CO 80246

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Art Instructor working as part of the Youth Development Team, will deliver professional customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA while giving instruction of their specialty. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Serve as an instructor for both adult and kid Classes
• Art Instructors are expected to be 10-15 minutes early for class and stay 10-15 minutes after to arrange equipment, clean up, do appropriate record keeping, read notices, and visit with participants
• To participate in all staff meetings that may be called by the Experience Director/Supervisor
• Follow and enforce all YMCA procedures and policies, including: personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies. Carry out emergency plans as necessary.
• Maintain a clean and safe YMCA. Take initiative to clean up/repair areas.
• Be dressed in appropriate attire and wear nametag.
• Attend and remain current on all mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
• Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign.
• Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all members and guests in our facility.
• Identify leaders for recruitment of volunteer/staff.
• Any other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The employee will occasionally be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
• While performing duties, the employee will be exposed to water, cool or very hot temperatures and may be exposed to direct UV sunrays.
• Specific vision abilities are required for this job.
• The employee must be able to see close up and at a distance and have clear peripheral vision.
• The noise level is moderate to loud and requires acute hearing skills
• While performing the duties of this job, this individual is occasionally exposed to wet conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
• The typical noise level in the facility is moderate but may be high at times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• YMCA Health Lifestyle Principles within 90 days of hire
• Must have experience in creative art and teaching others
• Experience working with groups to teach and create a fun atmosphere for all
• 25-60 hours of training (certification)
• CPR/AED and First Aide
