The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently accepting applications / resumes for an Aquatics Director.
The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We are located just 5 miles west of New York City in the beautiful Waterfront City of Perth Amboy, NJ. The Aquatics Director is responsible for developing, leading, and coordinating a diversified aquatics program that includes: 2nd Grade Swim; scheduling/teaching swim lessons; maintaining the aquatics facilities; managing and overseeing aquatic events, supervising and training aquatics staff; as well as other duties as assigned.

Hours: This is a 40 hour work week; with generally a half hour for lunch. Schedule is modified according to department needs as coordinated with direct Supervisor.

Essential Functions Include:
- Pool Safety: safeguard the lives of our members and all pool participant’s first; direct the patrolling of the pool and the enforcement of safety rules and regulations; assure adequate staffing at all times according to bather code and other safety regulations; assist and support program staff including coordinators, lifeguards, instructors, seasonal employees, and volunteers for the successful and safe operation of assigned program areas.
- Aquatics Events, Swim Meets, Practices, etc.: manage and/or assure management of all aquatics events, meets, and practices; run all swim meets that are held at our facility.
- Swim Lessons: grow, promote and provide quality swim lesson programs to members and community thru the use of social media, constant contact, fliers, word of mouth, and phone calls; work closely with Member Services to promote and assure clear communication.
- A bachelor’s degree in physical education, recreation or related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing an aquatics program.
- Swim Coaching experience preferred.
- Current First Aid, Lifeguard, CPO and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with all emergency management guidelines and direct application.
