Dixon Automatic Tool, Inc. is a family-owned business founded in 1946. We design and build automated assembly machinery with a focus on automated screwdriving. These are complex sales of engineered machines, designed around proven standard ‘Dixon’ mechanisms, and constructed and tooled to assemble the customer’s parts to a defined specification.
Dixon Automatic Tool, Inc. has a long history of designing and building equipment, stations, robotic end-effectors, and machinery for the automated assembly of products, focusing on processes such as part pressing, placing, screwdriving, and fastening applications. Markets served are electrical, electronic, automotive, construction products, medical, and the appliance industries.

Responsibilities:
This position is a combination of two related responsibilities: An automated assembly Machine Designer & Project Engineer, and an Application Sales Engineer (Proposal Engineer). We are a smaller company with many of our staff having multiple responsibilities. Both roles are performed as needed and scheduled.
The Application Sales Engineer role it to prepare order-winning sales proposals for customers seeking automated assembly machinery solutions. Supports Dixon’s sales staff & process by taking the customer’s Request for Quotation (RFQ), along with the technical details of the request, drawings of the parts, actual customer parts, and the requirements of the project (space, time, money, speed, process flow, etc.) and creates a quotation for machinery which performs as required.
Works to apply the latest technologies while optimizing Dixon standard stations to propose an efficient machine plan and quotation. If directed by sales management, presents the proposal, and secures the order. Works in the field as needed to visit prospects and customer's facilities, and to solicit and present proposals. Works with Dixon’s Sales Manager to promptly responds to inquiries from customers.
The Project Engineerrole is to turn our customer’s specifications and Purchase Order into an assembly machine that exceeds expectations. While working with company managers and staff, must manage the Project through design, build and test to meet cost, performance, and delivery requirements. Tooling designs are a combination of standard assembly stations and original fixture and component designs. Machine formats range from simple, stationary fixtures, to two-position slides, dial index tables, robotic assembly, servo mechanisms, walking beam, power and free, pallet transfer, carrousel, and continuous motion. We also sell automation products and stations to machine integrators and work with them to insure a successful integration into their assembly machinery and systems.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Must be technically competent in the design approach required for a multitude of customer assembly applications, requirements, and limitations. Must have integrity, a team mentality, strong work ethic, good listening skills, personal organizational skills, and understanding customer needs. Requires five to ten years of machine design and application work of automated machinery solutions.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
