Job description
The Applications Engineer (AE) responsible for the technical service and application support before and after sale of the ATI Material Removal (MR) products. The AE evaluates customer applications and makes recommendations for product use, model and option selection, and assists customers with technical questions and problem resolution, including on-site service and assistance at customer locations. The AE offers technical assistance to the sales department in the generation of new sales and market expansion. The AE works with design engineering to create new products and options in support of customer applications.
Regular and effective communications within the customer base and internal teams including sales, marketing, engineering, quality and production are critical to individual and team performance success.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with specifying solutions for applications, setup and repair of product, providing additional product details, etc.
- Identify improvements and new product ideas and report these to engineering and manufacturing.
- Drive implementation of product line improvements across multiple practice groups
- Provide training (application, product, service, etc.) for sales and engineering.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and engineering as needed for additional technical support
- Seek out training to improve customer service. Stay on top of all product changes by examining engineering changes and new product releases.
- Take direction and perform job duties as requested by Product Manager.
- Continue to learn new skills and techniques through in-house training, outside training/coursework, seminars, trade shows, and the internet.
- Travel to customer sites to support sales, troubleshoot issues, or provide training.
Required Skills, Education and Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution, preferably mechanical or electrical engineering or mechatronics engineering
- Ability to analyze technical problems/issues and effectively articulate verbal and written recommendations and solutions.
- Ability to present technical information to various audiences, often in a group setting.
- Ability to progress multiple tasks with shifting priorities
- Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems and kinematics.
- Excellent organizational and personal time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
- Knowledge of industrial robotic applications and operations preferred.
- Travel varies throughout the year depending on customer needs—approximately 20% travel, primarily domestic and Canada with opportunity for other international travel.
Physical Requirements
- Be able to obtain up to date Covid-19 vaccinations per the current CDC guidelines prior to employment start (full vaccination dose and booster, if eligible).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit for prolonged periods; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $76,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
