APP Cardiac Surgery ICU Stepdown Part Time Nights

POSITION SUMMARY:
In a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, contributes professional and clinical expertise to assigned patient populations to ensure the delivery of high quality care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of accredited nurse practitioner program/Physician Assistant program
• Current national certification .
• Hold a valid current NJ license
• Obtain a New Jersey CDS and federal DEA certificate upon employment if not already covered
• Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving.
• Minimum of 2 years APP clinical practice experience surgical ICU care, Cardiac Surgery experience preferred.
• Preference given toward cardiac surgery.
• Participation in pertinent professional and/ or specialty organizations preferred.
  BCLS & ACLS certification

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 
  Daily patient rounds in collaboration with CTS Surgeon on patients residing in CSICU, B.2A and other areas with in Valley Hospital.
• Document/review daily progress note in the patient's chart to include: analysis of subjective and objective data, relevant physical exam, documentation of findings and treatment plan. (EMR)
• Completion of patient transition to cardiac telemetry unit (A2) (transfer orders).
• Completion of patient transition to step down unit (transfer orders)
• Prescribes relevant diagnostic tests to enhance patient diagnosis and outcome (e.g. TTE, x‘ray)
• Re-evaluation of the patient status and treatment plan as needed.
• Perform procedures to include, but not limited to:epicardial pacemaker wire clipping/removal, chest tube removal, PA Catheter removal and IABP removal.
• Obtain and document relevant subjective and objective assessments (Consultation) on pre-operative patients and patient prescriptive for CV Screening.
• Perform and documents focus exams on discharged patients.
• Support Hospital-Wide initiatives in both word and action.
• Complete STS Data forms accurately/timely.
• Revise pre- and postoperativeorders as needed
• Optimize patients with pre-operative anemia.
• Resource for Rehabilitation Facilities for transferred/discharged post-procedure patients.
• Resource to Home Care Nurses for Discharged post-procedure patients.
• Evaluates Structural Heart cardiothoracic surgery patients' post-discharge
• Performs complex wound care and follow up on cardiac surgery post-discharge patients
• Actively participates in Quality initiatives.
• After completion of Ultrasound Guided course and supervised proctoring may perform:
• Insertion of central lines
• Insertion of arterial lines
• Thoracentesis
• Chest tube insertion
• After completion of CSU-ALS and supervision:
• Emergency sternotomy
