JOB DESCRIPTION
The annuity department is seeking an experienced Annuity Associate 'B' with excellent customer service skills. Under close supervision, reporting to Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor of Annuity, the Annuity Associate ‘B’ will be responsible for various duties, including but not limited to the following:
- Serve as the primary Customer Service Representative and screen all incoming calls.
- Processing all types of claims for the Annuity Fund, Additional Security Benefits Fund, Health Reimbursement Plan, Vacation, Holiday Unemployment Plan, and the Employer Portion of the Deferred Salary Plan.
- Checks claims for account balance, proper documentation, and general eligibility. All claims are keyed in by the processor online.
- Accepting the daily check runs from IT, checking for errors and having checks signed to prepare. for mailing.
- Sorting and distributing mail for all areas of the Annuity Department.
- Handles all customer service calls (high volume) in addition to assisting members in reception area.
- May perform other related clerical duties.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office -- customer service environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop computers, phone, headset, scanner, printer, keyboard, photocopiers, shredder, and fax.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work environment with physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. This would require the ability to lift files, pull files/forms/books, stand, bending, shred documents, open/close filing cabinets as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full-Time Onsite position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Flexibility: Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Salary: $1,054.72 per week ($974.04 base salary + $80.68 FICA reimbursement)
Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Previous Paralegal or Legal Assistance experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must have the ability to handle complex problems and multitask.
- Demonstrable computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe).
- This is a high-volume position that requires attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
- Must be comfortable working with numbers.
- Must adhere to a confidential code of ethics.
- Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with others.
- Must have experience working with legal documents.
- Reviewing and process the following documents accordingly, but not limited to:
- Divorce papers, including Stipulations, Facts, and Conclusions.
- Power of Attorney papers.
- Guardianship forms.
- Adoption decree, certificate, Amended Birth Certificate, etc.
- Documentation on name changes.
