Position Summary
Job Responsibilities
- Commit to a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach with all clients, callers, and coworkers
- Provide animals with food, water, enrichment, and other essential daily needs
- Maintain clean animal housing following our high-standard cleaning guidelines
- Provide initial exams and vaccinations to animals at time of intake
- Administer medical treatments under the direction of a veterinarian
- Maintain accurate and objective records in our animal management software
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
- Work cooperatively within your own department and cross departmentally
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Training Dates: January 2nd-February 10th OR January 30th-March 10th. Open availability required Mondays-Fridays.
- Availability to work one of the schedules below, a weekend shift, and rotating holidays
- Available schedules:
- Full-time: Sunday 10-6 pm, Monday 7-3:30 pm, Tuesday 7-3:30 pm, Wednesday 1-8 pm, Thursday 7-3:30 pm
- Full-time: Sunday 7-3:30 pm, Monday 12-8 pm, Tuesday 12-8 pm, Wednesday 12-8 pm, Thursday 11-8 pm
- Part-time: Saturday 7-3:30 pm, Tuesday 7-3:30 pm, Friday 7-3:30 pm
- Part-time: Saturday 7-3:30 pm, Monday 7-3:30 pm, Tuesday 1-8 pm
- Must be able to routinely carry 25lbs and up to 50lbs

- Ability to manage assigned personal schedule and timecard
- Prior animal care and client service experience a plus

It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, and Brown Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, educational programming, and veterinary resources for animals from low-income households, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the states busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
