Anatomical Pathologist
Job description
We are looking for a Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist for the Hato Rey Area. Will provide anatomic and clinical pathology interpretation of tissue and blood as related to diagnostic services in healthcare service facilities. Collaborates with other medical staff including specialty pathologists and assistant pathologists to assess and manage patient cases.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine all samples as requested, conducting all necessary tests accurately and ordering additional tests, if necessary
- Provide thorough written evaluation and diagnosis for each case
- Conduct or evaluate gross examinations, as needed
- Participate in service rotations including cytology, fine needle aspiration procedures (clinics), frozen sections, early and late shifts, subspecialty services, weekly on-call schedule, etc.
- Participate in the interpretation of immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology testing
- Ensure the proper handling of all samples
- Participate at some level in ongoing research and development
- Participate in the training/teaching of pathologists assistants, residents, and medical students
- Moving to a different location to cover an assigned facility around the island
- Work collaboratively with other physicians and laboratory staff
- Attend all required training, conferences, and hospital-related meetings
- Always maintain compliance with all legal and institutional requirements
- Completes continuing education courses to maintain medical licenses, certifications, and malpractice coverage renewal
- Be competent in the use of laboratory information systems (LIS)
- May perform other duties as assigned
- No autopsies are performed

REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited university
- AP/CP or AP Board Certification in good standing
- PR Medical License valid and in good standing
