The successful candidate will provide analytical testing for the development of in new membrane and filter products at Veolia. This includes competitive benchmarking, raw material analysis, execution of standard and non-standard characterization testing to provide a scientific understanding of our products to ensure data-driven decisions during the development and scale up to manufacturing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collect, receive, label, and/or analyze samples using the correct testing equipment
- Record all experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format
- Organize and store all chemical substances and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and document repairs of laboratory equipment, as needed.
- Order laboratory supplies, as needed.
- Execute analytical testing to qualify RO/NF/UF membrane and elements products and processes
- Prepare reports identifying samples, explaining testing methods, documenting findings, and outlining conclusions of standard analyses
- Ability to consistently execute general and method specific laboratory skills
- Ability to work efficiently under tight timelines and achieve results, while maintaining high quality of work
- Ability to communicate basic scientific information to rest of peer group
- Good knowledge and experience with Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) and safe laboratory practices
Basic Qualifications
- BS in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, material science or another related scientific field and 1-2 years of laboratory experience
- Experience with analytical testing using a variety of testing techniques
Desired Qualifications
- Mindset on open collaboration, learning and innovation
- Effective problem-solving abilities
- More than 1 year of direct hands-on experience with operation of spectroscopy equipment (UV, FTIR) and various physical, and/or wet chemistry techniques
- Familiarity with software/data analysis programs such as Cromeleon, Mass Hunter, Omnic, JMP, Excel Macros
- Basic knowledge of filters, membranes and water chemistry testing
