Position Summary

Working closely with a senior chemist, the analytical chemist will be responsible for performing analytical work related to quality insurance sample analysis during production, registrations, clinical trials, and product development. Work will center around providing technical services including method development and analytical services, as well as assistance in cleaning and stocking laboratory equipment and glassware. Success in this position will require the ability to perform instrumental analysis of methods using LC/MS, and GC/MS, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve various analytical problems. This position will be based out of Zinpro’s laboratory in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Essential Functions

• Help develop test protocols and methods for analyzing new products and finished products to ensure they meet specifications; ensure proper documentation of methods in standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
• Assist quality assurance chemist with troubleshooting and resolving analytical problems.
• Carry out routine tasks accurately, following company’s strict methodologies to preform qualitative and quantitative analytical tests.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and operate standard laboratory equipment.
• Set-up and optimize instrumentation to evaluate current processes and continually identify time and cost-effective methodology.
• Investigate product and process deviations, identify root cause, and develop corrective and preventative actions.
• Participate in customer and regulatory agency audits and investigate and respond to customer complaints.
• Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced; Inventory and organize all retained samples, chemical reagents, and analytical consumable items.
• Help clean lab equipment and glassware and stock in organized fashion.
• Support all laboratory personnel with routine laboratory procedures such as sample preparation, solvent, and buffer preparations.
• Prepare clear and summarized directions for conducting analytical methods at the laboratories and create spreadsheets for recording and calculating analytical results.
• Maintain proper laboratory communication by keeping a well-maintained notebook. Document the work accomplished and communicate activities to co-workers.
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a laboratory analytical chemist in a research, food and feed analysis, environmental analysis, or pharmaceutical laboratory.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with analytical equipment.
• Fluent in English with proven skills in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to use analytical equipment including pipette, analytical scale, pH meter, filtration apparatus and thermometer.
• Must possess up-to-date computer skills using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), and LIMS.

Preferred:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with LC/MS/MS instruments
• ICP, HPLC, UHPLC, and GC/MS instrumentation.
