Performs and or assists in transporting of patients of all ages from UVA UVA Hospital to other health care facilities, nursing care facilities or residence with qualified personnel as mandated by the patients condition. -
Qualifications
-
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
-
ALS: 2 years work experience on a medic unit with a career agency or department or equivalent preferred
-
Advance Life Support Attendant: Paramedic
-
Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC)
-
Must produce acceptable DMV driving record
-
Current BLS through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
-
Current ACLS and PALS
-
Must remain calm and organized in emergent situations.

Must be available for rotating shifts as required
-
Must have keen sense of responsibility, ability to make decisions, and work independently
-
Must have good judgment.

Must have basic computer knowledge.
-
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
-
Must be able to interact effectively with the public.

Perform IV/IO access including ED
-
Operate mechanical ventilators
-
Operate under REMS and department protocols to include special MD orders.
-
Other duties as assigned under the scope of practice of Virginia as a Paramedic
