ACFD1 Wildland Coordinator
Pay Grade $10,000-$15,000 Annually
POSITION STATUS: Part time Paid; At-Will
DISPATCH AVAILABILITY: Able to dispatch provided primary duties are satisfied for position
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
SERVICE HOURS: As Necessary to Satisfactorily Perform the Duties
of the Position.

This job description is established by the Albany County Fire District 1 (“Fire District”) to outline the basic requirements, duties, and responsibilities of the position of Wildland / Mitigation Coordinator. This position is “at-will,” which means the Fire District may terminate the employment relationship at any time and for no reason, subject only to the requirements of federal and state law. Similarly, the employee may terminate the employment relationship without notice at any time for any or no reason.
Position Summary:
The Wildland Coordinator duties include the performance of administrative and technical work relating to Wildland Programs within the Fire District.
Immediate Supervisor:
The Wildland / Mitigation Coordinator reports to the ACFD1 Board or Designee
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities for this position and should not be considered an all-inclusive list:
· Coordinate, and develop the Fire District’s Wildland Response Team, maintain resources available for out of area dispatch based on local fire conditions, sit-reps and PL.
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Departments and with Albany County Fire Warden, Wyoming State Forestry and other local, state and federal cooperating agencies.
· Develop, implement, and maintain wildland programs, materials, and equipment.
· Monitors the program success, research new programs, and funding.
· Manage the District’s Incident Qualification System (IQS) and resource availability in the Interagency Resource Ordering Capability System (IROC) through coordination with Casper Fire Dispatch.
· Manage records including Wyoming Resource Rate Forms (WRRFs), wildland billing and reimbursement packages.
· Work with ACFD1 personnel to ensure timely completion of taskbooks, secure training/trainee opportunities, develop personal training plans and assist with maintaining/updating IQS Master Records.
· Ensure all wildland calls and responses are properly documented in Emergency Reporting (or similar District reporting system).
· Coordinate all District wildland training opportunities, ensure qualified instructors, verify courses are taught according to standard and ensure uniform opportunities are available District-wide.
· Coordinate task book initiation requests for all operational positions above FF1/ICT5.
· Working knowledge of NWCG and NFPA standards, including PMS 210/311/910.
· Working knowledge of policies regarding wildland firefighting, resource ordering and reimbursement packages.
· Seek project funding through grant writing opportunities.
· Prepare a detailed written report for the monthly Board of Directors (“Board”) meetings and prepare other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
· Maintain positive and constructive written and oral communication skills at all times.
· Work in a team-oriented environment, all trainings are inclusive to ACFD1 FF.
· Have a positive attitude and be a self-starter.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the ACFD1 Board or designee.
Minimum Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements:
· Possess and maintain NWCG Firefighter Type I qualification and Red Card.
· ENGB or other single-resource is preferred.
· Possess and maintain a valid State of Wyoming driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
· Successfully complete an ACFD1 Background Check.
· Ability to operate computer equipment and related programs for entering information into a database.
· Knowledge of Fire District operations, practices, and procedures.
· Knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment, including computers and related word processing.
· Ability to drive and back trailers.
· Ability to prepare clear and concise reports. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
· Ability to follow written and oral commands and standard operating procedures of the Fire District.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Board members, supervisors, Fire District employees and volunteers, vendors and the community.
· Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
This position requires work in a variety of locations and conditions, including living quarters and office areas, in and around a wide variety of automotive, mechanical, chemical and medical equipment or supplies, and emergency scenes of every type.
· A portion of this position will involve sedentary, administrative work in an office environment; however, in emergency situations, the Working Environment/Physical Requirements set forth in the Volunteer Firefighter Position Description, as may be amended from time to time, are incorporated as if set forth in full herein.
· This position requires standing, running, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, squatting, pushing, pulling, crawling, ascending, and descending ladders and stairs, jumping, sliding, climbing, pinching, gripping, digging, spraying, reaching over head, reaching away from body, and repetitive motion.
· Ability to perform job tasks under conditions of potential serious harm (smoke, heat, toxic fumes, hazardous materials, heights, and similar situations) and all types of weather conditions and in extreme temperatures.
· Work may be performed under hazardous and adverse conditions, including but not limited to, slippery and uneven surfaces, proximity to moving mechanical equipment, burning structures, broken glass or other materials, electrical currents, high places, and confined spaces.
· Work may result in exposure to smoke, gasses, chemicals, fumes, odors, mists and dusts, which can affect the respiratory system or skin requiring the wearing of furnished PPE.
· Work may result in exposure to high noise levels requiring the wearing of hearing protection.
· This position demands frequent use of sensory activities such as talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling (identifying objects by touch), depth perception and color vision.
· This position will involve occasional periods of high physical, mental and/or emotional stress.
Evaluations
Monthly reports of number of hours, activities performed and completed to be evaluated by board for the first year.
