Come and work for the Boston YMCA Bluefins swim team! We are a regional swim team associated with both the Burbank YMCA and North Suburban YMCA's
Under the supervision of the Senior Aquatics Director and Head Swim Coach, this position assists with swim team practices and swim meets. As well as attending swim team functions and events such as fundraisers, swim clinics and banquets.
POSITION SUMMARY: Primarily responsible for swimmers ages 6 through 18. The coach would be available to coach on weekdays and weekends as well as weekend swim meets. Responsibilities include: coaching swim team practices, monitoring swimmer safety and behavior, and coaching meets as directed by the Head Coach. The ideal candidate will have or be willing to attain the appropriate coaching certifications for both the YMCA and USA swimming leagues including CPR/First aid and either a lifeguard or safety training for coach’s certification.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:
- Provide quality and consistency in all assigned workouts throughout all levels of ability.
- Attend meets and practices as needed.
- Write and implement workouts for each practice as instructed by head coach.
- Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
- Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand each individual’s goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
- All other duties as assigned.
- At least 18 years of age.
- No experience necessary, training to be completed on site. Competitive swimming or coaching experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
- At times, be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Primarily evening and weekends, some weekends will require early morning practices or meets.
- Travel will be necessary to meets and potentially practice sites.
REQUIRED TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Child Abuse Prevention (within first four weeks of employment)
- Respect in the Workplace (Sexual Harassment Prevention)
- CPR, First Aid, O2
- YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming & Diving
- USA Swimming Certification (as required by location)
- Safety Training for Coaches or YMCA Lifeguarding
