POSITION DETAILS
STAR Nova Education, one of the leading nonprofits in after-school education, is seeking Minecraft teachers for the 2022-2023 school year in the Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park area. All candidates must be knowledgeable in Minecraft and have experience teaching/working with children at the elementary level. Applicants must also be energetic, organized, reliable, and want to make a difference in the lives of children.
- Must be available 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm (Some location have early days Tuesday & Wednesday 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm)
- $25 per hour
- Location: Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park Area
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Experience teaching K-5th
- Must commit to the 2022-2023 School Year
- Must have Reliable Transportation
- Must be punctual, reliable, enthusiastic, responsible, and flexible
- Dedicated to children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels
Minecraft Teacher Requirements
- Basic understanding of the strategies, mechanics, and lore of Minecraft.
- Basic knowledge of computer or ipad operation and ability to troubleshoot occasional computer or ipad issues, including network errors. You don’t need to know how to build your own PC, but you do need to know how to fix your wifi when it goes down.
- Ability to lift and transport a teaching kit of laptop computers or ipads.
- Flexibility in applying STAR curriculum based on student capabilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently lead a group of 20 students from K-5th
- Attend Teacher Training where you will be trained in Classroom Management and Minecraft
- Instructors are expected to arrive on time and provide an educational, safe, and enjoyable class experience for students
- Assist in all additional assigned tasks given by the Site Director
