Job Summary
The LifeFlight Event Medicine AEMT - PRN independently works off assessment skills to activate patient care protocols to deliver patient care within his/her full scope of practice as defined by the state of Tennessee and LifeFlight's scope of practice. Maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Safety transport patients utilizing Vanderbilt and Unit specific safety, policy and procedure and accreditation standards. Maintains equipment per regulatory and compliance standards. Responsible for effective communication to ensure safe and quality patient care with team, transport and handover.
Position Shift:
We use a self- scheduling system. Our events are typically on nights and weekends, but can vary.
Events can last from three to 13 hours but the average event is five hours.
Event Medicine employees are required to work a minimum of four events per month.
Department/Unit Summary
The Event Medicine division of Vanderbilt LifeFlight was started in the fall of 2008, when Vanderbilt Medical Center became the official healthcare provider of the Nashville Predators. Vanderbilt LifeFlight Event Medicine provides AEMT and paramedic level EMS for team members and spectators at all home games for the Nashville Predators.
In addition to the Nashville Predators, Vanderbilt LifeFlight Event Medicine provides EMS coverage (including ambulance standby) for all events at the Bridgestone Arena. Vanderbilt Athletics, CMA Music Festival, Iroquois Steeplechase, Nashville Sounds Basebal,Vanderbilt University Special Events, Music City New Year's Eve Bash on Broadway and Nashville Pride Annual Downtown Festival. Our Event Medicine Division handles 1,000 events annually in the Middle Tennessee area.

- High School Diploma/GED
- Current TN Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) required
- One year of relevant AEMT experience (or equivalent) (Preferred)
- Emergency Vehicle Operations Training and VKF training is required (can be taken during the orientation period).
- BLS required, PHTLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire, and TECC must be obtained within 120 days of hire.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
- TN Advanced EMT License is required.
- Additional job requirements include: 1. Medical crew members must be able to twist, bend and provide patient care in confined spaces. 2. Must be able to tolerate stressors of flight and transport, including, but not limited to, excessive motion, vibration, and extreme temperatures. 3. Must maintain weight so as to fit into the seat belts / shoulder harnesses as provided by the aircraft or ambulance manufacturer without modification to those safety devices.
