Position Summary:
A Post Graduate Fellow works under the supervision/delegation of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Director of Advanced Practitioners, APP Regional Managers, and is scheduled to work clinic shifts with an assigned Advanced Practice Provider(s).This role is designed to provide new grads with the opportunity to shadow an existing Provider in order to gain additional skills and confidence and transition to becoming a Provider at CommunityMed
Shifts and Hours:
Full-time is 12 shifts/month + 1 Didactic day/month
- Hours of Operation: Monday - Saturday: 7:30am - 8:00pm and Sundays 11:30am - 8:00pm
- As a Fellow, you will shadow a Provider and mimic their schedule for a month
- Every month, will rotate to a new provider and mimic their schedule & assigned clinics
- Fellowship duration can vary, but typically averages 3-6 months
- Transition to Advanced Practice Provider role contingent on performance and position availability
- Salaried Role - $83,400
- Pay bump once fellowship is completed, able to independently work as a FT Provider, and contingent on FT Provider positions being available
- Didactic sessions average 4-6 hours (mandatory and included in salary)
- NOTE: Fellows are not required to work in excess of their 12 shifts + 1 Didactic per month
- Fellows will not receive additional compensation for excess shifts worked during their Fellowship
- CLINICS CLOSED ON:
- Thanksgiving Day + Christmas Day + New Year’s Day + Easter + 4th of July
- Schedules made 30+ days in advance
Required Qualifications:
- Minimal 2+ years experience as an RN
- Preferred ER, UR, or ICU experience
- Application in process for Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant, DEA license, any other certifications, board certifications, licenses, or regulatory mandates by the state to follow state laws in Texas
- Current BLS certification
- It is the sole responsibility of the Advanced Practice Provider Fellow to maintain all certifications and registrations necessary as outlined by the state and federal government. Failure to do so may result in termination, as these are necessary for employment with CommunityMed.

Responsibilities:
- Arrive to shifts on time, 7:30am Mon-Sat and 11:30am on Sundays
- Adhere to HIPAA and all other applicable federal and state mandates.
- Contact Director in an event of an emergency call-in.
- Contact Director with any issues, questions, etc. pertaining to the clinic or your shift.
- The program is dynamic and includes 75% clinical training and 25% didactic session.
- Mandatory didactic sessions will be scheduled, may extend beyond the fellowship time with attendance still required
- One- to three-month rotations through various urgent care clinics in the region
- Work collaboratively with Urgent Care teams under the tutelage of experienced NP/PA’s to provide care for patients in our sites, this includes:
- Room and triage patient; recording set information including vital signs.
- Obtaining and documenting a thorough history, performing physical exam and ordering and recording tests
- Ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Administration or providing of medications
- Monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, when necessary
- Administration of immunization / vaccines when appropriate
- Offering counseling, education, and discharge planning to meet patient needs
- Prescribing treatments including medications
- Arranging necessary follow-up referrals
- Maintaining compliance with individual oversight physician as per state guidelines
- Adhere to all regulatory boards necessary for your licensure

- Ability to respond quickly, physically, and mentally when priorities and /or the patient’s condition changes
- Use of computer, software programs, printer, and scanner
- Basic waived lab testing procedures as evidenced by passing lab quizzes
- Best medical practices and aseptic technique
- Proper use of EKG and AED
- Adherence to the Policies and Procedures set forth by CommunityMed
