JOBResponsible for assisting the Director, Financial Aid with work related to Federal/State/Institutional aid programs and assigned tasks affecting the operation of Student Services related activities. Assists in the advisement of prospective students and families relative to the various types of financial aid available, via high school and on-campus Financial Aid presentations.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Verifies financial aid recipient files, enrollment status, award notices, and monitors adjustments/award changes.Verifies the status of files that were forwarded to ProVerify. Gathers and reviews documentation needed to award financial aid funds in the College’s designated Student Information System.Assists in cross-checking admissions applications with financial aid files and validating the enrollment status of aid recipients within the College’s designated Student Information System.Enters and maintains student financial aid information into the College’s designated Student Information System.Assists in the coordination and preparation of all timely financial aid mailings.Assists in the advisement of prospective students and families relative to the various types of financial aid available, via high school and on-campus Financial Aid presentations and workshops.Assists in gathering data for the completion of required federal and state reports and fund reconciliation with the Bursar’s office and Finance department.Prepares, maintains, and updates financial aid files in Banner and the TAB filing system.Disseminates timely and accurate financial aid information to all students.Assists in the development of new financial aid processes based on relevant and current federal, state, and institutional changes including forms update.Assists with integrating financial aid information and providing training opportunities to other departments within the college.Performs other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree with three years of progressively responsible experience in higher education enrollment services required.2-4 years of Higher Education experience, financial aid experience preferred.Experience with a Higher Education Software, Ellucian Banner preferred.Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience presenting to individuals and large groupsAbility to work with discretion, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound independent judgmentAbility to work a flexible schedule with variable hours, includes evenings and possible weekends.Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partnersDemonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment If certain conditions exist, this position requires you to have access to personal technological equipment and capabilities to perform your duties.
