As Secretary for the Associate Warden's Office you will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintaining calendars
  • Managing appointments
  • Drafting formal memorandums and letters
  • Answering and routing telephone calls
  • Reviewing various documents for grammatical errors
  • Running reports
  • Filing documentation
  • Serve as a backup for the Warden's Secretary
  • Other duties as needed

Additionally, the Associate Warden's (AW) Secretary will help the Associate Warden (AW) facilitate the Affirmative Employment Program. The AW's Secretary is expected to familiarize themselves with policy and program statements.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, the AW's Secretary has a responsibility for maintaining the security of the institution.

Experience:

The equivalent of one year of fulltime experience (1 yr of FTE = 2087 hours) working in a clerical type position. Some examples of work experience could include: Experience in following up on committee actions where indicated, including typing and distributing committee docket sheets, processing committee actions, and distributing copies to all concerned. Experience in scheduling and confirming a supervisor’s appointments, special events and conferences and ensuring that the supervisor is fully briefed on the matters to be considered before the scheduled meeting in addition to resolving conflict in schedules whenever feasible. Experience in managing files and proofing responses before forwarding to supervisor for review.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm (Federal Holidays off)

Important Information:

This position is considered a federal law enforcement appointment. The person selected for this position is entitled to full federal law enforcement benefits. All institution staff are expected to complete Introduction to Correctional Techniques (ICT) Phase I and Phase II. ICT Phase II consists of a 3 week training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA. (Travel and Training expenses covered by the Federal Bureau of Prisons). Due to the Law Enforcement nature of this position, in accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age of 36 has been established for initial appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution. If you are above the maximum entry age and have prior federal law enforcement coverage, you MUST submit an SF-50 to verify prior coverage. Qualified Preference Eligible Veterans may be exempt from meeting the maximum age of 37. Please refer to the Required Documents Section for the appropriate documentation to submit to validate veteran eligibility.

Pay: $56,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
