The Administrative Coordinator I position located at the Board of Elections will be performing administrative work and play a key role in the election administrative cycle process assigned by the General Statutes of North Carolina in accordance with the laws of the State. This position will also provide information to the public concerning candidate filing requirements and election regulations.

Examples of Duties

  • Filing of candidates, manage the office record keeping systems to ensure all election records, including candidate records are maintained in accordance with policies and regulations
  • Review candidates filing documents to ensure proper submission of forms, other documents, and fees
  • Audit campaign reports, send notices of discrepancies, and late reports
  • Assist with campaign finance reporting and prepare campaign packets for filing
  • Assist with registering of voters, perform list maintenance to remove voters (deceased, felons, duplicates and cancellations) from database
  • Data entry of voter registrations
  • Assist with scanning, review and independently process voter registration applications and same day registrations
  • Assist as the backup absentee officer, assisting in the processing and mailing of absentee ballots
  • Audit precinct returns, assists with recounts, challenges and hand to eye recounts
  • Follow NC General Statutes and NC Retention Schedule

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with a degree in accounting, business management or related field and two (2) years of experience in the assigned program area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary additional requirements:

Successful completion of Keyboarding, Data Entry, Customer Service, Basic Excel and Basic Word tests will be required. Candidates selected as qualified will be contacted via email by a Human Resource representative for testing.
