Administrative Assistant


FLSA STATUS:
Non-Exempt


QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate Degree or High School Diploma with at least three years of experience. Broad base of experience in office operations. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions. Must be competent in computer/technology skills. Must possess excellent organizational skills.

Assistant Superintendent of Administration and Auxiliary

Services


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Principals/Schools


  • Coordinate subpoenas with Board Attorney
  • Coordinates custody orders for JCPS


Administrative


  • Communicate daily via telephone and in person with parents who have concerns regarding their children
  • Communicate with Johnston County Emergency Management
  • Gather and process agenda items for monthly department meetings
  • Update forms/publications, as needed, and order miscellaneous printing such as inclement weather flyers, bus rules, reassignment forms, etc.
  • Coordinate the student suspension process
  • Coordinate student suspension training sessions
  • Maintain student suspension databases
  • Coordinate and record student suspension appeal hearings
  • Verify timelines and due process procedures relative to student suspensions
  • Explain board policies and procedures to parents and students
  • Coordinate Choice Plus student referrals with parents and homeschools
  • Coordinate and verify Disciplinary Data Collections
  • Assist with parent grievances and student appeals
  • Coordinate, review, and collect the Office of Civil Rights Report
  • Prepare end-of-year Suspension Reports
  • Coordinates Student Reassignment and tuition process.
  • Complete various clerical duties as assigned
  • Assist with the daily operations of Administrative Services
  • Complete other duties as assigned


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions to perform the job of an administrative assistant.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:


Must be able to communicate well with parents who have concerns regarding their children’s education. Must be able to communicate well and maintain good, professional relationships with principals and others.
