ACTUARIAL ASSOCIATE

Reinsurance Actuarial Department, New York City

Background

The US Reinsurance Pricing team is based in New York and currently consists of 7 individuals. The team supports underwriters working in New York across General Casualty, Professional Liability, Property & Multiline and Specialty lines of business. The purpose of this role is to provide pricing assistance to the US Reinsurance team. This role reports to the Vice President & Reinsurance Pricing Actuary in New York.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in pricing individual treaty submissions.
• Contribute to the testing and improvement of actuarial models.
• Collect and analyze industry data for usage within pricing tools.
• Prepare data for inclusion in pricing database.
• Meet with brokers and clients as required.
• Complete Casualty Actuarial Society designation (or equivalent).

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or another technical major.
• Completion of at least one Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exam.
• Recent full time actuarial experience or actuarial internship experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Knowledge of VBA and SAS is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize efficiently.
• Eligibility to work in the US on a permanent basis.

Compensation

The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment. Base salary represents one component of Allied World’s comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.

Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000.
