Summary
Develops and administers a comprehensive activity program to meet the needs, interests, and capabilities of the adult consumers in the adult crisis stabilization unit. Assumes the responsibility to develop and administer a well-rounded social program schedule.
Essential Functions
- Assumes the responsibility for the design and development of recreation and leisure programs to meet the assessed needs, interests, and capabilities of the consumers in the crisis unit
- Assists consumers on the unit in acquiring knowledge related to leisure resource utilization on a daily basis
- Assesses and documents consumer’s abilities and needs and records consumers’ participation so this can be analyzed in relation to needs, interests, and past lifestyle
- Attends consumer evaluation meeting and other appropriate meetings as necessary
- Confers with other personnel, superiors, and families regarding patient interests, needs, and limitations, as well as the availability of resources
- Assures that all activities conform to the criteria of federal, state, and local accreditation and licensing agencies or organizations
- Assumes responsibility for scheduling and coordinating miscellaneous social programs for the units (i.e., educational programs, entertainment programs, special events, games, group programs, spiritual services, etc.)Compiles a monthly program calendar, prints the calendars, and distributes them to unit personnel and patients
- Coordinates programs with other units and communicates with all personnel as appropriate
- Uses community resources in the development of programs
- Assists with the development and implementation of training and orientation for appropriate designated staff
- Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
- Attends staff meetings, workshops, and seminars to learn agency policy, rules, regulations, and procedures; participates in on-going in-service training as well as required external training
- Assists in the development and implementation of programmatic goals and objectives
- Maintains confidentiality, informs consumers of rights and obtains necessary authorization for obtaining and releasing information
- Support and assist with the facilitation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- General skills in exercising independent judgment, tact, patience, and understanding; maintaining effective working relationships with consumers, other staff, and the community
- Basic computer skills
- Commitment to the mission of Red Rock BHS
- One-year experience in mental health related field and/or recreational activity field preferred
