JOB DUTIES: Your application must provide a detailed description of your relevant work experience in relation to the following duties: The Accounting Services Office is responsible for all monies collected and disbursed for and by the College. All transactions are reviewed to verify that they are in compliance with College policy and State Fiscal Rules. This full-time position exists to provide technical accounting support to the students and staff of Morgan Community College through utilizing accounting services including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, grants and contracts administration, and preparation of agency financial statements. Other accounting services include: performing functions related to student receivables, including student billings and refunds; maintain reconciliations related to student receivables and cash; maintain receivables and reconciliations of accounts not on student receivable/billing system; process non-paid accounts with drops for non-payment and collections; assist with third party sponsored student accounts; process employee payroll; ascertaining the correct account codes and maintain a file system for all cash receipt balances. This position carefully reviews and itemizes the functions and objects of the general ledger for cost accounting purposes; provide accurate accounting information and financial statements to the College, the State Controller’s Office and outside agencies. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications or higher to include Word to compose correspondence, reports, edit and distribute memos, etc., utilize Excel to create spreadsheets, tables and formulas and manipulate data in spreadsheets to maintain records and Outlook to maintain calendars and appointments, and Banner Student and/or Accounts Payable/Receivable modules for a variety of tasks.


Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) years of technical accounting experience. The technical accounting experience must have been performed as a main function of the job. Daily interaction with students, faculty and staff require that this position have excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Candidate must have experience providing excellent customer service and interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within the organization and community. Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary for success in this position. In order to be considered for this position, your relevant experience must be documented on your application. (Part time experience will be pro-rated).

Substitutions: Two years (60 semester credits) of college, university or non-correspondence business school from an accredited institution in Accounting or Finance may substitute for the technical accounting experience as listed above. You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application in order to be considered.
