Job description
Responsible for weekly payment of all Town invoices and associated record-keeping. Prepares and submits grant reimbursement requests and reports required by local, state, and federal agencies, as well as internal archive grant records for any grants assigned. Ensures transactions are properly recorded on a timely basis with little or no direction. May be requested to perform a variety of financial research as it relates to the various functions. Will be cross-trained into other accounting functions such as: payroll, balancing daily Utility Billing receipts and preparation of associated deposits and reports, and assists with end-of-month and year closing processes. Will be required to become familiar with Town policies, travel and procurement guidelines. May require work after hours to meet deadlines. Time off may also be contingent on scheduling and deadline needs. May be required to provide identification information as needed to comply with requirements of duties assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid NM Class D Driver’s License Bachelor Degree in Accounting preferred or may be substituted with four years’ experience in accounting related position. Two years in a responsible fiscal position, preferably in municipal government, and emphasis in accounting and computers
Special Requirements
Ability to prepare and understand financial reports accurately. Strong interpersonal communication and computer skills required, to include Word, Excel, etc.; knowledge of state guidelines as they pertain to gross receipts tax, compensating tax, NTTC’s, W-9’s, 1099’s, etc. preferred. Ability to read and comprehend Town policies, procurement guidelines, etc. Must be familiar with the accounts payable process. Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests.
