CLASSIFICATION: Accounting Clerk II; $18.45/HR SCA Rate; First or Second Shift Available; 3 Positions Available

GRADE: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Accounting Clerk II performs routine accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger, and preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions and journal entries. Completes moderately complex calculations. Is able to reconcile accounts and bank statements. May also process accounts payable and receivable transactions. Performs miscellaneous tasks, needing oral and/or written communication sufficient to compose and deliver responses to internal and external inquiries in a clear and concise manner.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: An Associate Degree (or equivalent college credit) in accounting or a related field and six months of directly related experience are required. Three years of directly related accounting experience may be substituted for the education requirements. Deltek Costpoint experience is required. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite with a strong understanding of Excel functionality (i.e. pivot tables, functions, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting). Must have the ability to compose reports and correspondence using good business vocabulary and proper grammar and construction. Must have a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles, and have gained or attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance. This position requires the successful completion of a National Agency Check with Investigation (NACI). All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security, and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.




Job Requirements:


GENERAL DUTIES:
The Accounting Clerk II works under the supervision of an Accounting Specialist under the direction of the Finance and Accounting Manager, and performs various accounting tasks such as:

  • Receive and process daily mail, sorting, matching, and coding invoices using a three-tier match system (invoice, receiver, purchase order) with associated authorization forms for varying types of vendors including expense reports, subcontractors, consultants, OEMs, utility and service invoices
  • Ensure proper coding for freight and sales tax expenses
  • Verify transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
  • Work with internal managers and Buyers to obtain approval of invoices to ensure timely payment in accordance with agreed-upon terms
  • Data entry of a high volume of invoices into the Company's ERP system (Deltek Costpoint)
  • Assemble documents for computer input, verifying the accuracy of itemized charges, account numbers, total costs, and approvals
  • Clerical tasks include copying, scanning, filing, and boxing documents for file retention
  • Resolve and respond to vendors/suppliers' and employees’ inquiries promptly and in a positive manner
  • Assist internal managers with any audit/documentation requests
  • Maintain an organized filing system
  • Assist in the development and implementation of priorities and procedures relating to Accounts Payable
  • Process and distribute a large volume of payments weekly. The clerk will ensure on-time vendor payment, capitalize on all available vendor discounts,
  • Assist with training and provide day-to-day assistance to other AP team members when required
  • Support received by processing Receivers in the ERP system during times of surge or as needed by matching purchase order data, to data reported on packing slips including but not limited to correct quantities and part numbers, was received by logistics. The clerk will also send requests to the requisitioner and task facilitator for verification of completion & accept
  • Take ownership of special projects and/or processes needing special or advanced attention
  • Perform any other duties as required within Finance and Accounting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires occasional lifting or moving of heavy objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
