Title:
Accounting Clerk
Reports to: Finance Manager, Yvonne Newman
Position Summary:
We are searching for a motivated Accounting Clerk who is an excellent multitasker with exceptional communication and time management skills. The Accounting Clerk can expect to assist the Accounting department with data entry, processing, and recording transactions, updating the ledger, assisting with audits or fact-checking, and preparing reports. Candidate should be thorough, accurate, and honest with good bookkeeping skills. To be a successful Accounting Clerk, candidate should have an understanding of basic Accounting principles and proficiency with computers and software, such as MS Excel, Word, and Quickbooks or Sage Intacct. Candidate should be trustworthy, efficient, and organized. There will also be some office maintenance responsibilities, as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
The Accounting Clerk will manage accounts and provide support for the finance, sales and other departments. They may also be responsible for maintaining vendor accounts and processing procurement requests for supplies. Other duties and responsibilities include:
· Managing accounts payable using accounting software and other programs
· Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
· Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures
· Accurately perform data entry tasks
· Code, add receipts and review credit card transactions.
· Work with sales agents and employees for training
· Keeping an eye out for accounting irregularities and providing solutions
· Performing clerical work and interoffice support including receiving and processing mail
Assisting with office coordination and maintenance as assigned/needed:
· Credit card documentation.
· Oversee office supply requests, ordering and supply room stock maintenance.
· Breakroom: ordering and maintaining supplies
· Mail log and postage replenishment
Job Skills & Qualifications
· Proficiency with computers and bookkeeping software, strong typing skills.
· Exceptional time management and verbal and written communication skills.
· Familiarity with basic accounting principles.
· Professional manner and a strong ethical code.
· Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
· Commitment to working efficiently and accurately.
Required:
The right person for this role should have Admin experience and at least 3 years of experience in accounting. Competence in financial and bookkeeping software is necessary. A successful Accounting Clerk will have a mix of organizational and analytical skills. They should be able to work out numbers, generate reports and find discrepancies as well as cost-saving opportunities. Other qualifications may include:
· Competency with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct and/or other accounting tools
· Basic data entry and word processing skills
· Good listening and communication skills
· Attention to detail
Preferred:
Successful completion of 12 semester credit hours in Accounting or an Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
Competency with QuickBooks, and/or Sage Intacct.
Working Conditions:
Light-duty office environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
