The Accounting Assistant I is a
Ministerial Support position.
Ministerial Support staff serve in operational and service support roles and are not required to personally affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Position Objective:
The Accounting Assistant I is responsible for supporting the Accounting Staff with assigned projects related to Payroll, Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable in order to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.
Key Job Accountabilities :
- Assist in preparing multiple types of bank deposits and corresponding accounting data entry as needed to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Download and enter data from financial transactions from various processors to accounting software.
- Assist with data entry for accounts payable invoices to ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors.
- Liaise with other MHA departments in cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
- Assist with account reconciliations.
- Assist with audit preparation.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Part-time; $15.75/hour.

Qualifications:
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- High School graduate preferred.
Work Experience:
- Some cash handling experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
:
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Skills necessary to use a personal computer and various software packages.
- Ability to work with current Excel spreadsheets and/or create new spreadsheets.
- Ability to learn multiple software programs with relative ease.
- Able to accurately count, receive and disburse cash.
Physical Demands:
- The physical environment requires the employee to sit at a desk and computer for long periods. The primary job responsibilities involve long hours of data entry. In addition, there may be occasional standing, squatting, stooping, and twisting. Possible occasional ability to lift/carry up to 20 lb. boxes for short distances.
Additional Requirements :
- Must agree to and comply with MHA’s employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
- May be requested to work overtime for occasional deadlines during high volume seasons such as audit.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to all areas encountered on the job.
- Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
- Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
