The Accountant serves as a member of the Finance department and is primarily responsible for the performance, verification, and reconciliation of various financial transactions and general accounting activity, including maintenance and reconciliation of various investment and general ledger accounts. As part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes, the Accountant prepares analyses, reports, and provides support to other members of the Finance department as needed. The Accountant reports to the VP – Controller as an individual contributor and is a full-time, on-site position.
Responsibilities:- Maintain, balance, and reconcile various general ledger accounts on a daily and monthly basis
- Maintain, reconcile, and record certain investment activities and related accounts
- Prepare various analyses and assessments, including:
- Investment valuation analysis
- Investment impairment analysis
- Assessment of new accounting standards
- Prepare monthly tax provision and support the preparation of estimated tax payments and annual tax returns
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process and preparation of the respective financial statements
- Prepare periodic Federal Reserve reports for timely filing, including FR Y-6, FR Y-8, FR Y-9, and FR Y-10
- Serve as backup for various general accounting and finance activities
- Support ad-hoc projects, as required
- Active participation in strategic initiatives of the Finance department and Bank
- Recommend improvements in Finance department activities, Bank operations, and Bank performance, and provide support to department managers in implementing improvements
- Work as a team member and foster a team environment with all levels of Bank employees and management
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other closely related field
- Experience working in public accounting or with financial institutions preferred
- CPA or on track to earn CPA preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience or coursework leveraging data analytics software and/or advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities a plus
