Job description
- Coordinate all functions, duties, and initiatives of circulation services and general daily use of the Library.
- Plan and monitor applicable aspects of department budget.
- Evaluate circulation procedures and practices and initiate updates reflective of local data/statistics and best library practices; propose and implement operational and technological improvements to optimize circulation services.
- Perform duties including reference, instruction, collection development/maintenance, communications to faculty, and assist in other library departments as needed.
- Regularly participate in routine circulation desk duties.
- Oversee Interlibrary Loan and OCLC processes.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise and provide evaluation for assigned student workers and non-exempt staff.
- Maintain orderliness of library spaces and all collections including library stacks, periodicals, reserves, audio-visuals, and other library materials.
- Identify and retrieve overdue materials; resolve issues arising from late, damaged, or lost materials.
- Work closely with faculty and academic support staff to place instructor materials and texts on reserve.
- Oversee account records, reconciliations, and security of cash and copier receipts.
- Track and provide relevant statistics and analysis of circulation activity and compile yearly circulation statistics and analysis for Library Annual Report.
- Provide patrons with general library and reference information; assist and instruct (in-person and virtually) in use of library services, resources, facilities, and equipment including assistive technology to accommodate users with disabilities.
- Work collaboratively with library leadership team to meet the larger goals and initiatives of the Library, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs.
- Communicate changes and new initiatives impacting circulation practices to other library personnel and college staff/departments.
- Coordinate and assist with displays, marketing, outreach activities, and advocating for the Library.
- Serve on appropriate college, community, regional, consortium, state, and national committees.
- Work flexible hours as necessary to participate in evening/weekend circulation desk coverage.
- Regular in-person attendance is expected.
- Using tact and courtesy establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.
- Assume additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree. MLS, MLIS, or ALA-recognized equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of two years professional library experience, at least one year in an academic (college/university) setting preferred.
- Must possess skills and abilities that reflect comprehensive knowledge of circulation, library services, resources, and programs.
- Experience using an integrated library system (ILS). Experience with ExLibris Alma/Primo preferred.
- Leadership experience and the ability to supervise others and general operations effectively.
- Proficient in use of social media to inform and promote library services and resources.
- Must possess the capacity and willingness to work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse, team-oriented, proactive service environment.
- Ability to manage and prioritize simultaneous projects to completion.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Summary:
Provides supervision of comprehensive circulation services to achieve optimal function of workflow, and exceptional customer service in all areas, including lending of materials, course reserves, and interlibrary loan. Coordinates circulation services and general daily use of the Library in collaboration with other librarians to ensure appropriate alignment with other library services and systems.
