Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:

The Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) collaborates, educates, and develops creative solutions for student accessibility barriers at Lamar University. Under the direction of the Director of the ARC, the Access Coordinator facilitates communication access services and assistive technology access for student of Lamar university.

What You’ll Do – Position Duties
As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:
  • Implementation of ARC policies and processes for communication access and assistive technology.
  • Coordination of communication access staff including staff interpreters and contracted communication access professionals.
  • Process and complete scheduling requests for communication access services for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
  • Process and complete student requests for alternative format course materials.
  • Maintain competence in current and prospective assistive technology applications for students with disabilities.
  • Train students and staff on use of assistive technology and alternative formats.
  • Facilitate purchase orders and vendor payments requests received by the department.
  • Assist with student scheduling, accommodations, alternative testing, and other related tasks.
  • Assist with social media and website changes, when directed.
  • Compiles data related students with disabilities and actively participates in annual program outcomes for ongoing process evaluation and improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
What You’ll Need to Succeed – Minimum Qualifications
To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years’ experience with education, technology, accessibility, or related field.
  • General knowledge of the ADA, ADAAA, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Effective communication and excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Proficiency with word processing, database, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong confidentiality ethic.
  • Knowledge of accessibility-related technology and applications.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, social justice, and cultural competence and the ability to work in a diverse environment.
