Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling or a related field and one year of related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements.

Position Description:

The Academic Counselor will provide academic counseling and assistance to support students in successfully completing their degree program.� �

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Provide academic counseling to prospective, new, currently enrolled, and returning students. Explain and interpret School and University policies, procedures, and program requirements. Assist students in the selection of majors and minors appropriate to their interests, backgrounds, and academic qualifications. Assist students in planning their academic program.
  • Promote student success and retention by assisting students in navigating academic difficulties and making needed referrals for additional support services.
  • Contribute to routine functioning of the office and advising services:� Audit student degree progress and completion of degree.� Partner with Transfer Services to evaluate transfer equivalencies and support students in determining applicability of credit toward UofL degree requirements.� Support students in the evaluation of grades data and academic status. Update advising materials, as needed.
  • Make presentations on academic topics to groups of prospective and current students in conjunction with SPHIS and UofL, including orientation programs. Represent the School and Advising Center at events both on and off campus, for the purpose of disseminating information and promoting awareness of School degree programs, including recruitment.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Target Compensation Maximum:

$56,858.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$32,390.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
